How to make PMID display in a reference in Vancouver style?

October 19, 2012 – Yingting

Question: I would like to include PMID in my references. I am using the Vancouver style. Do you know how to add PMID to the style?

Answer: You are right that the Vancouver style in EndNote does not display PMID in a reference. However, the style does have PMID included in the Accession Number field. You just need to add that field in the reference by revising the style. Remember, when you revise the style, make sure you save the revised copy as a new file and do not overwrite the original style. It is a tedious procedure to revise a style. For your convenience, I just revised the Vancouver style for you to include PMID in a reference (your UMDNJ proxy account is needed to download). Click here to download the revised style. If you have any question, please contact your campus librarians for help.
