			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>The PubMed interface has been changed. The old way of exporting references from PubMed is no longer valid. Here are the steps to export references from the new PubMed:</p>
<ul>
<li>Do a search in the new PubMed.</li>
<li>Select the references you would like to export.</li>
<li>At the upper right corner of the screen, click <strong>Send to</strong> or the down arrow next to it.</li>
<li>Under Choose Destination, click the radio button next to <strong>File</strong></li>
<li>Under <strong>Format</strong>, choose MEDLINE.</li>
<li>Then click on the <strong>Create File</strong> button.</li>
<li>A pop-up window will appear. Click <strong>Save </strong>to save it as a txt file.</li>
<li>In EndNote X3, open the library in which the saved file will be imported.</li>
<li>Under the File menu, choose <strong>Import&#8230;</strong> to launch the Import pop-up window.</li>
<li>Choose the txt file just saved for the box next to Import Data File; then choose <strong>PubMed (NLM)</strong> as Import Option; you may either import all or discard the duplicates.</li>
<li>In the Text Translation box, leave it to “No Translation”</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Import</strong> button; your references will be imported into your chosen library.</li>

References from PubMed can be stored and managed in EndNote by using the “Import” function, as shown below:

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">References from <em><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;">PubMed</span></em> can be stored and managed in <em><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;">EndNote</span></em> by using the “Import” function, as shown below:  </span></span></p>

<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Conduct a search in <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><a href="http://www.umdnj.edu/cgi-bin/libjournal/890" target="_blank">PubMed</a></span>. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Select the references you want to keep by clicking in the checkboxes next to them. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Make sure MEDLINE was chosen in the Display box in the upper right corner of the screen. The default display is usually in “Summary” form, showing citations without abstracts. From the pull-down menu select “MEDLINE”. This will change the display format of the references to be tagged in the manner needed for <em><span style="font-family:Arial;">EndNote</span></em> to correctly import the references. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">In the “Sent to” pull-down menu, choose “File”. A File Dowlnload window will pop up. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Click on the Save button in the pop-up window and then save the references as a text file. The default name for the file is “pubmed_result”, but you can change it to your own choice. Then click on the Close button of the pop-up window. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Start <em><span style="font-family:Arial;">EndNote</span></em>. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Open the library or create a new library into which you want to import the records. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">From the File menu of EndNote, select Import. An “Import” window will appear. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;" lang="EN">Click on “Choose File…” and slect the .txt file that was saved from PubMed. </span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"> </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;" lang="EN">In the Import Option pull-down menu, choose “PubMed (NLM)” as the import filter. This tells EndNote how the data in the .txt file was organized so that the appropriate information can be filtered into the EndNote library. </span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"> </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;" lang="EN">When importing into an existing library, decide what to do with duplicates from the options provided in the “Duplicates” drop-down list. </span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"> </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;" lang="EN">In the “Text Translation” field, keep “no translation”.</span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"> </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;">Press the “Import” button. </span></span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Arial;" lang="EN">The references will be placed into your chosen library.</span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"> </span></span><span style="font-family:Arial;" lang="EN"><span style="font-size:small;"> </span></span></li>
